What therapy looks like with me

Clients often describe me as gentle, attentive, and genuinely invested in their well-being. These qualities help shape a therapeutic space where you can feel supported, taken seriously, and met with care.

A central part of my work is helping you feel grounded and secure enough to explore what’s difficult. This means creating a space where your experiences can be spoken about openly, at your own pace, without pressure to perform, explain, or “get it right.” When there is a sense of steadiness and trust in the room, deeper work becomes possible.

In our sessions, you can expect an atmosphere of warmth, curiosity, and respect. Your boundaries are honored, your emotional experience is taken seriously, and your voice remains central to the work we do together. From this foundation, we can begin to thoughtfully address the challenges that brought you to therapy.

Specialties

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocesseing)

Some experiences can continue to affect us long after they’ve passed, shaping how we see ourselves, relate to others, or respond to stress in the present. EMDR is a trauma-informed approach that helps the brain process these experiences in a way that feels more integrated and less overwhelming. I approach EMDR with care and pacing, prioritizing emotional safety while supporting meaningful shifts in how past experiences are held in the body and mind.

IFS (Internal Family Systems) Parts Work Therapy

There may be parts of you that feel like they’re constantly in conflict, with one part trying to push forward, another wanting to shut down, and another feeling overwhelmed or self-critical no matter how hard you try. You might find yourself wondering why certain reactions keep showing up, even when you logically understand what’s happening. Over time, this internal tug-of-war can feel exhausting and confusing, leaving you feeling disconnected from yourself.

Internal Family Systems (IFS) offers a gentle way to understand these inner experiences without judgment. Instead of seeing parts of you as “problems,” IFS helps us recognize them as protective responses that developed for a reason, often during moments when you needed to survive, cope, or stay safe. In our work together, we move at a pace that prioritizes emotional safety, helping you build a more compassionate relationship with these parts rather than fighting against them. Over time, this can support greater clarity, self-trust, and a stronger sense of inner steadiness.

Anxiety and Depression

Living with anxiety or depression can leave you feeling disconnected from yourself, stuck in patterns of overthinking, numbness, or exhaustion. Even when life looks “fine” from the outside, it can be hard to feel grounded, motivated, or at ease on the inside. Therapy can offer a space to slow things down and make sense of what you’re experiencing.

Together, we’ll explore how these struggles show up in your daily life, where they may be rooted, and what support looks like for you specifically. The goal isn’t just symptom relief, but helping you reconnect with parts of yourself that feel lost, worn down, or overshadowed by survival mode.

Relationship Dynamics

Relationships can be complex and emotionally demanding. You might notice patterns such as consistently putting others’ needs before your own, struggling to express boundaries, or pulling away when closeness starts to feel vulnerable. At times, these patterns can leave you feeling unseen, uncertain, or longing for connection while unsure how to move toward it.

Using a culturally sensitive and trauma-informed lens, we can explore how these relational patterns developed and what keeps them in place. Therapy can support you in building clearer communication, deeper self-understanding, and more fulfilling relationships with others while strengthening your relationship with yourself.

Frequently Asked Questions

My regular rate is $175 for 50 minute sessions, and $225 for 75 minute sessions. (75 minute sessions are always planned for ahead of time, and they are typically for EMDR trauma processing sessions).

I keep a number of needs-based sliding scale slots. I cannot slide my fee if you will be submitting for reimbursement from your insurance with superbills*.

I am an out-of-network provider with most insurance plans. Many managed care insurance models place limitations on session structure, frequency, and clinical flexibility, which can affect the quality and continuity of care. Practicing outside of these systems allows me to offer therapy that is more individualized, flexible, and responsive to each client’s needs.

That said, I currently accept Medi-Cal Anthem, Medi-Cal Health Net (MHN), and straight Medi-Cal plans. This coverage applies only to Medi-Cal plans and does not include commercial Anthem or Health Net insurance. For clients using other insurance providers, a superbill* can be provided upon request to support potential out-of-network reimbursement.

If you plan to use out-of-network benefits, a superbill can be provided to support reimbursement through your insurance provider. Since coverage varies widely, reaching out to your insurer directly can help clarify what your plan may cover.

I reserve time specifically for your session, and when a session is canceled at the last minute it can be difficult to fill that time. To support fairness and keep the practice running smoothly, I ask that you notify me at least 48 hours before your scheduled appointment if you need to cancel or reschedule. Cancellations or reschedules made more than 48 hours in advance will not incur a fee.

If a cancellation or no-show occurs within 24 hours of the appointment, the full session rate will be charged. Insurance generally does not reimburse cancellation or no-show fees, so these fees are your responsibility.

I understand that life can be unpredictable, so exceptions are made for illness or true emergencies on a case-by-case basis. If you have questions about this policy or need clarification, I’m happy to talk through it with you.
